I used to feature GoFundMe campaigns frequently on the podcast. However, when I revamped the podcast last year, I chose to stop including those segments. Several factors influenced that decision.
Firstly, I wanted to avoid having time-sensitive episodes in the feed and aimed for content that listeners could enjoy without an expiration date. I also felt that focusing on too many things was diluting the podcast's quality. Finally, with the show now often scheduled several months ahead, it became challenging to accommodate these types of episodes. Campaigns typically last about a month, and if a creator canceled, it would leave a gap in the schedule.
I occasionally feature campaigns in my First Comics News column, though I often have several weeks of columns pre-scheduled. I believe these campaigns play a vital role in supporting the growth of a thriving comic book industry. To support indie creators, I’m introducing a GoFundMe section on the website. It’s an additional platform to help indie creators receive the attention they rightfully deserve.
