Lana Bronze Age

Marty Pasko said he had trouble writing stories for Superman’s supporting characters. Too often, he wanted to do something and was told he couldn’t because someone else had plans. No one was using Lana Lang, so in 1977, Superman 317, Morgan Edge hired Lana to co-anchor with Clark on WGBS.

3. Jimmy Olsen

Both are not all that different. In each, he goes unnamed and doesn’t look like the classic Jimmy. The first, Action Comics #6, 1938 he’s much younger and has blonde hair. All that changes with Superman #12, 1941, where he starts to look the traditional Jimmy, but he’s a reporter—not a photographer—which was done to better the Superman Radio show at the time.

Over the decades, he appeared only 62 times, and after an appearance in Action 200 in 1955, it would be nearly 30 years before he showed up again. It was during the 70s and 80s, when DC started telling new Earth-2 Tales again that he began appearing, with an older, balding, not-named—but sitting next to Lois—at the Trial of the JSA  in America vs. the Justice Society #3, from 1985.

The classic tale is available in two readily available collections: Lois Lane: A Celebration of 75 Years and Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman: The Deluxe Edition.
